Newport Council fills in Brynglas Tunnels with cement to halt England rugby fans

Council workers filled the tunnels in with cement on Friday night in a bid to slow down the influx of England fans

Newport Council workers have filled in the Brynglas Tunnels with cement in a bid to piss off England fans who are heading to the Six Nations game this weekend.

Workers were spotted filling the tunnels in with shitloads of cement on Friday night.

One eyewitness told WalesOnCraic:

“I was heading down towards Newport for my usual Friday night dogging but as I approached the tunnels, I noticed that there were a few cement mixers parked up. One of the workers flagged my car down and told me to stop because they were filling the tunnels in. There was another car who came flying up behind me and went straight into the tunnel but never came out the other side.

“When I asked them what they was doing, the one worker said that they were filling them in with cement to stop some of the England fans getting to the game in Cardiff. I asked if was all a bit drastic but he hit me in the face with a shovel so I went on my way. I got to my dogging meeting late, which was a shame because I’d been looking forward to it all week. I’d had a wash and everything.”

Other motorists said that they had to go up and over the tunnels to rejoin the M4 on the other side.

“It took me 3 hours to get around them so when all these chariots turn up tomorrow, they’ll be in for a bit of a surprise. Hopefully, they’ll just turn around and go home.”

One England fan said that he was prepared for any eventuality.

“We’ve got our cucumber sandwiches at the ready, old boy,” said Tarquin Peacock-Smythe. “Nothing will stop us.”
