Lorry driver uses all of M4 to overtake another lorry

Gary Flatarse began overtaking Terry Wondergunt at Pont Abraham services and finally completed his manoeuvre as he arrived in London

A lorry driver from Carmarthen has used the entire stretch of the M4 to overtake another lorry heading in the same direction.

Gary Flatarse of U-Pull Haulage began overtaking Terry Wondergunt of To-Me-To-You Removals at Pont Abraham services and finally completed his manoeuvre as he arrived in London.

Traffic Officer Lenny Helmet told WalesOnCraic:

“We was tracking him on the cameras all the way from Pont Abraham to the big smoke. We could see that he was stopping anyone from overtaking him, especially on the duel carriageway bits and at one point, the two drivers were chatting to each other through their open windows.

“They even exchanged cigarettes as they passed through the Brynglas Tunnels. We don’t condone this type of behaviour. We know that all lorries are limited to 53mph so I don’t really see the point. I tried to pull Mr Flatarse over to give him a bollocking but I couldn’t get alongside the twat.”

Government advisers are now planning to send leaflets to all haulage firms to make drivers aware of their actions.

“We’re going to send leaflets out,” said a government spokeswoman.
