Football fans across Wales have begun researching their Spanish heritage ahead of this weekend’s Euro final.
Fans have previously researched their Dutch and Swiss ancestory as England have strode towards the tournament’s climax.
Wales fan Dai ‘David’ Davids told WalesOnCraic:
“I think my Mam was Spanish because when we was kids, we had this small donkey ornament on our mantlepiece that she said she got from Torremolinos. I think she must have been born there or something so I’m going to be pinning myself to the Spanish flag this weekend because of that.
“I was Dutch last night, on account of the fact that Mam’s favourite flowers are tulips so she was obviously born in the Nertherlands. Sadly, their football team just weren’t up to scratch last night so I’ve ditched the idea of being Dutch, even though my favourite colour is orange.”
Other Welsh fans have been going through their attics to see if they have any Spanish background before the crunch game on Sunday.
Another Welsh fan said:
“I found an old Ibiza Classic CD that I think my Dad listened to once. Ibiza’s in Spain, isn’t it? Or is it part of Norway? I can’t remember.”
Spain take on England in the Euro Final with kick-off just after the Bangers and Cash omnibus.
