Weather warning: Wheelie bins at risk of being blown over

Unsecured garden furniture is also under threat from Storm Eowyn

The Met Office has issued a ‘danger to wheelie bin’ warning as Storm Eowyn makes landfall in the UK.

Wheelie bins across the country are at risk of being toppled and unsecured garden furniture is also at threat from the winter storm.

Wales’s highest weather expert, Derek the Weathersheep, told WalesOnCraic:

“It’s blowy out there, man. When this kind of storm hits, it’s always our wheelie bin population that’s at risk, especially if the bin men have been around recently. They’re like sitting ducks and have virtually no protection from the wind. We’ve seen situations where whole rows of wheelie bins have been blown over; they’ve gone over like dominos. It’s awful.

“Garden furniture is also at risk. I know one woman whose garden gnome was blown over and his nose fell off. I don’t know what this country is coming to but I’ve never seen storms like this before. It must be to do with all those deodorants we were spraying back in the ‘80s.”

Storm Eowyn has already started battering Ireland and the storm is expected to last a few days here in the UK.

“If you haven’t already moved your wheelie bin to a safe place, please do so before it’s too late,” added Derek
