Woman buys toilet rolls for the first time since March 2020

Glenda Widegirth bought 10,000 rolls at the start of the pandemic

A woman from Tongwynlais has bought toilet roll for the first time since March 2020.

Glenda Widegirth bought 10,000 rolls at the start of the pandemic and has only just got through them.

She told WalesOnCraic:

“When the pandemic came along, my friend on Facebook told me that there was going to be a world shortage of toilet paper so I went down my local Kwikky Save and bought everything they had. I then came home and saw Boris Johnson on telly, telling me that things were only going to get worse so I went back down Kwikky Save the next day and bought the new delivery they’d had overnight.

“When I finished buying them, I realised I’d bought 10,000 rolls. None of my neighbours had any so I was selling them at £5 a roll. It was great because I made a shit load of money and ended up buying a super yacht like Michelle Mone’s.”

The money soon dried up though for Glenda.

“When things got better, I was stuck with a bit of overstock and it’s only now that I’ve had to go back to the shops to buy new toilet roll. It was nice to back to Kwikky Save. It brought back fond memories although they have had a refit since I was last there. Debbie the manager’s still there though but she’s gone to look really old,” added Glenda.
